541252_459905984082547_267980172_nThis is such a great little edible goodie that you can make for Easter: parties, kids school functions, bake sale etc.

Make Rice Krispie Treat Recipe

1/4 cup butter

4 cups miniature marshmallows

5 cups crisp rice cereal

  1. Melt margarine in large sauce pan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted and well-blended. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
  2. Add cereal. Stir until well coated.

Clean, dry and spray the inside of plastic eggs. Push mixture into top and bottom and then squeeze together by adding an small amount of mixture to one side and then squeeze the two halves together. Open up and as you do so move each side in a different direction to “unscrew” your new creation.

Melt candy melt or chocolate – add food dye to desired color – dip eggs into the mixture and then sprinkle with candy confetti, sprinkles, etc.

Cheesecake Crescent Rolls

medium.12 cans of Pillsbury Crescent rolls
2 (8oz each) package cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup butter, melted
cinnamon
sugar

Unroll and spread 1 of the cans of crescent rolls on the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking dish (or 8 x 8 if you want to cut the recipe in half). Combine softened cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, and vanilla. Spread over crescent roll layer. Unroll and layer remaining crescent rolls over cream cheese layer. Melt your butter and spread over top of crescent rolls. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and sugar.

Bake for 20-30 minutes in 350 degree oven until bubbly and slightly browned. Drizzle with a little honey if you like. Let cool a bit, slice and eat.

ADDITIONAL: Consider adding some fresh fruit puree like strawberries, raspberries etc. For the chocolate lover add chocolate syrup or cut up candy bars or chocolate chips. Think of crushed nuts and caramel? How about a drizzle of maple syrup with a sprinkle of brown sugar? Just add your favorite ingredient before adding the top layer of crescent and bake as directed. Also, the filling can have some food dye placed into it to add a festive design for a special holiday!

Cookies Shaped Like Easter Baskets

150402_633368540010381_921416405_nUse your favorite sugar cookie recipe and divide cookie dough into at least four equal portions and use a separate food color to dye each section of dough.

Spray inside of mini muffin pan with cooking spray.

Place a small amount of dough into each well and bake according to your sugar cookie recipes directions but watching to make sure they don’t burn.

When cookies are removed from oven and while cookies are still warm make an impression into them with your thumb to make the inside of the basket.

Be careful to make sure you are not putting your thumb into a cookie that is too hot so you don’t get burned. When cookie is completely cooled pipe icing into the cookie well after you have removed cookies from mini muffin pan.

Place jelly beans, M&M’s, chocolate chips etc into the icing.

Sprinkle coconut if you like around candies that were inserted. At the end use a section of string licorice to make a handle for the basket.

Great for parties, kids school functions including bake sales and can be placed on small plates around a party gathering to provide a sense of Easter decorations.

Magic Jelly Beans

555114_478480305534822_1906957858_nAs the weather gets nicer outside I am dieing to get out and garden. I found this great little planting treat on Face Book on $5-10 Dollar Meals- Cheap Eats. Grab a handful of Jelly Beans and plant them in the garden with your children. Have them water them thoroughly and talk to them about planting and how something that starts from seeds can grow and provide us with food to eat. Do tell them though that these Jelly Beans are a fun magical experiment and that if they plant them and nourish them carefully something might grow that they will love. In a couple of days after you see them watering and caring for their magical beans – when they are not looking – take the beans out and “plant” a huge lollipop. They learn something about the process of gardening, doing a little work pays off and may want to help more in the garden.

Rice Crispie Treat Hollow Egg For Easter

11385_449897131750099_1159314075_nThis is a great little treat to make for Easter and you can even get your kiddies in on  this one. Make the recipe as usual. Coat the inside of several plastic eggs with butter to prevent sticking. Push a small amount into each side of the egg making sure to cover the inside completely. Level with your fingers as close as you can. Now here you have an option – put the jelly beans inside now (and they may get stuck) or let the 2 halves dry and then put the jelly beans or other surprise inside. If you let it dry you need to use melted chocolate or  gently heat the flat area where the egg halves need to attach in a pan and quickly place surprise inside and seal to other side.

SOME IDEAS

~Use food coloring to dye the treat

~Coat the inside with Nutella or chocolate

~Add Easter festive candy sprinkles to the treat mixture

~Decorate the outside with royal icing designs – use coloring to make more festive – or attach candies while icing is still unhardened

~Melt candy bars (milky way, snickers, mounds) in a pan and place a spoonful into each half before closing

~Use flavored marshmallows to make the treat recipe – I have seen mint, strawberry, chocolate

~Spoon into each half a recipe like no bake cookie or squish in a soft cookie to mold into the inside of the treat of each half

~Tie around the “attached” area  a small “plastic” ribbon

This would make a great little desert that can be made cheap for a party, or classroom treat for Easter.I think this would also make a great party favor for a bridal shower or baby shower. Opening the egg could unveil a small plastic baby.
