Mix clean sand and white craft glue to obtain an oatmeal type of consistency (add small spoonfuls of water but no more than two). Clean sand can be obtained from a beach or at a craft store. Blow up a balloon or a beach ball (we had more success with a beach ball as the balloon if too tight can pop while doing this) and rest the tied end into a bowl. Start at the top and pour the liquid and allow to run down. Make sure there are no gaps – you do not want a spider web effect. Dripping is allowed. Allow to dry overnight. Repeat process to create a thick three or four layer effect. Now on the last layer you will watch for it to be almost hard – then you will flip it out over to rest on what used to be the top. You are going to do this to create a flat bottom. Too early this will form in a huge puddle – too late and it won’t form. Its cheap and that is good because if you mess up try again.

Home Made Ice Pack
This is a simple way to make ice packs for the freezer that will never harden but gets very very cold. It is the simple formula of 3 part water to 1 part rubbing alcohol. In a gallon bag you would put 1 cup rubbing alcohol to three cups water in a quart bag you would add 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol to 1 1/2 cups water. Double bag! When you use it for one application wash the outside bag or remove and replace it so it is always cold. The rubbing alcohol will keep the water from freezing which makes this ice pack palatable to mold over your body. Keep more than one in the freezer so you can alternate. Replace water/alcohol mixture minimally once a year.
Boil Bacon In WATER?
First place the bacon in a fry pan filled with water with just enough water to cover the bacon. Then place the pan on the burner (at high temperature) and let it cook. Cook it till it snaps and hisses at you and then reduce the burner to medium. The water cooking allows it to be fully cooked without browning so there will be no burnt outside and it will still be chewy inside.
On a side note after you see the bacon shrink a bit you can wash the pan and bacon and then put bacon back in the pan to continue to cook. This way you will loose some of the grease and bacon will be a little healthier to eat. You can also do this with ground hamburger that will be seasoned.
Rice Water For Tummy Trouble
You will need long grain rice (the rice that takes forever and a day) and a pot with twice the amount of water that the rice requires. Bring the water to a boil and add rice and cook until rice becomes very tender. Add an additional one cup of water at a time if water goes to low and rice is not tender. Drain the water in a strainer collecting the rice in a strainer and the water in a clean container that is under the strainer. You want the rice water to remain more runny than milk. The rice should be retained to add to soup or casserole. This can be used as is cold or warm to help with upset stomach. It is also a very healthy daily drink and is very easy and cheap to make yourself. If drinking daily add raw sugar to taste to the rice water and bring to a boil until the rice water has melted the sugar. It will keep for about five days in the fridge and is a very refreshing drink to start your day with. If taking for tummy trouble do not add the sugar. It can be served warm or cold and should be sipped. The starch from the rice absorbs bacterial and acid in the stomach and can even help to relieve loose bowel movements.
Rice Water For Tummy Problems

Making rice water is really easy and uses ingredients right out of your food storage. Rice water is useful when somebody is having stomach issues like vomiting or diarrhea. It is calming to the upset stomach, amazingly bland, starchy, and gets some nutrients in your patient.
To make rice water you need rice and water, that’s all. Put two tablespoons of rice in a pot with 1 cup of water. Don’t add salt. You don’t get a cup of rice water from a cup of water because some of it soaks into the rice. I double or triple this and refrigerate the leftovers.
Bring the water to a boil and boil until the rice is tender. Strain the rice out and the milky liquid that is left is rice water. You can eat the rice, add it to a soup or casserole, or feed it to the chickens if you want. If you boil too long, your rice water will be pretty thick. You can just thin it back down with some regular water if it’s thicker than you’d like.
Let the rice water cool before serving it to your patient. You can drink it warm or cold. Great for queasy tummies young or old.
