Egg Carton Bat

Cut out 3 sections of egg carton a spray paint black. Tie a ribbon through a large bead (or something that will hold the ribbon on the under side of the egg carton) and pull ribbon through hole in middle section of egg carton piece. Glue two googly eyes on the front. Make several of these and use left over ribbon to make the hangers. make sure to spray the underside as well. Let the kids help and remember that Halloween decorations don’t have to look perfect – in fact imperfection actually look better in the end product. It just adds to the creepy feeling to your decorations. Great to let the kids decorate at a party – just spray paint everything before hand and let them use eyes and glitter and beads and other left overs in your craft closet. The would make great name place holders as well – after pulling the ribbon through make a bow. The ribbon can also hold a little bell to bring in the noise.

Halloween Wreath Ideas

Here are some great ideas to create a jaw dropping wreath everyone will be asking about. From gathering tulle on a wire circle, hot gluing ping pong balls together and topping off with moving plastic eyes, feathers and boas and Styrofoam eyes and attaching a series of orange, black and fall colored glass ornaments together to form a wreath. It will be a decoration to use many years to come to great visitors for the season and trick-or-treaters on Halloween night. What ideas have you come up with for decorating your house this Halloween? Send us some pictures and we will post the best.

Growing Pears Into Art

When the pear is first formed a mold of hard plastic riveted together is attached around the new growth. As the pear grows it grows into the mold and develops. Makes a whole new idea for eating fruit. I wonder what other types of fruit this could be applied to? Apples?

Recycled Bike Rim Pot Hanger

What a great way to recycle an old bike tire. Holes are already along the sides to insert hooks into or over that can be purchased at any hardware store along with simple chains to hang. Pictured it is hung by a rod and hook system but chains are easier to attach. Make sure the hook that this is all attached to is deeply embedded into a rafter to avoid a terrible accident. Use this for lighter weight pans or use as a utensil hanger. If you want to use this for heavier pots and pans remove spokes and cut a 1″ thick piece of wood the diameter of the rim (use the rim as a template) stain or paint then polyurethane and attach to rim. This will give a much stronger rack that you can hang heavier items on. I think this look great…. can anyone else come up with another usage for an old bike rim? If you can share in the comments:

Use For Old Buttons

What a great idea for all of your old loose buttons just sitting around waiting to find a good home. Can be done on an old lampshade that can be painted or on a new white one like seen here to provide a glow to the buttons. Would make a great shade for a child’s room or your craft room. Where might you use this idea? Do you have enough buttons for a project like this?
