Thanksgiving Turkey Cupcakes

1396962_621732474539941_1862622456_oThese turkey cupcakes are so cool to make for Thanksgiving and even though they look like a whole lot of time went into them it was simpler then you think.

~Make you favorite cupcakes and cool.

~Melt candy melts or chocolate chips and dip top of cupcakes into it and allow to harden. (If you use chocolate chips are a small spoonful of corn syrup to make the chocolate easier to work with.)

~The head – the picture shows fondant being used but lets use half of a Nutter Butter cookie dipped into the melted chocolate and then leave to dry on the side.

~Start with yellow icing and make a rippled edging along one half of the cupcake. When done squeeze the icing back into a bowl and add more coloring to that icing to get layers of yellow, yellow-orange, orange, orange-red, red, and a maroon color (by adding a very small amount of black or purple food coloring to the red).

~Top with Nutter Butter cookie that has pipped eyes, nose and goblet.

Would be great for an extra special treat for your Thanksgiving dinner party – the kids will especially love them.

Thanksgiving Pumpkin Candle Holder / Floral Arrangment Centerpiece

1452559_727376160625808_984816409_nI have always enjoyed decorating for the holidays and Thanksgiving just does not have many options available in the means of store bought decorations to choose from. So I am always so very happy to find cheap and really cool ideas to decorate with – and ones that do not take a lot of time.

This decoration uses small small pumpkins just big enough to put a clean soup can in and dried or fresh flowers and/or a pillar candle. Place the can on the top of the pumpkin and trace around the can to make a guide for cutting. You will want this to be tight so cut just within the line. Cut the pumpkin and remove the guts and seeds (don’t throw those seeds out – see how to prepare them as a delicious snack below) so the pumpkin will last longer. You will also want to scrap the insides of the pumpkin to not leave any wetness that prompts rotting.

Now gently push the cleaned can down into your hole you cut. You want it snug so that the can will not push through into the pumpkin. It will defeat your end design of the arrangement.

FLORAL: If using fresh put clean water in and place your fresh flowers in. Place a wide bow around them at base next to pumpkin to finish off the look. Is using dry do the same without water.

CANDLE: Place the candle within the can and place flowers and filler around base. To keep the candle from going to far into the base wad up aluminum foil to fill in to make the height of the candle where you desire it.

SEEDS: Rinse in a strainer and remove any slippery substance and also the strings or guts of the pumpkin. I actually soak them for a few hours in water I have brought to a boil and added salt to so they absorb the solution to make a nice salty seed. You do not have to if you don’t want to. Bake them spread on a cookie sheet at 350 and turn every couple minutes until you smell that nutty smell and see teh edges of the seeds turning brown. Turn oven off and let them cool with the oven. When cool bag and eat as a delicious healthy snack.

Crafty Egg Surprise CHEAP

eggSent to us from Cynthia and this originates from FaceBook profile: LittleBirdieInvitationsandDesigns. What a great cheap little egg gift that could be used to put in a basket, to decorate a table, little party gifts for adults, name tags with a tag tied on with a pretty ribbon. You can even used a multitude of different colored yarns that you have as leftovers. I am even thinking red, white and pink for Valentines Day, black and orange for Halloween. Birthdays could be colors to match your theme. Christmas red, green, white with something just very special inside. See where I am going? I even think you could get extra creative and glue or tie little embellishments onto these to make them extra special. You could even get the kids involved to make a bunch for a class party.

White Grape Peach Hawaiian Punch Spritzer

Angie_NewYearsRecipe5-200x300 Angie_NewYearsRecipe7-300x200

A delicious white grape spritzer is the perfect drink to bring in the New Year. Frozen fruit serves as yummy ice cubes and the super sour rim just might be sour enough to knock you into 2013.
What you need to make this delicious drink: 6 cans Welch’s white grape peach juice, 1 bottle cold sparkling white grape juice, fruit cocktail that you will freeze into pieces, Hawaiian Punch “singles to go” packets.
Dip the rim of a glass into the Welch’s white grape peach juice and then press the rim down into the Hawaiian Punch powder.
To create the Spritzer: 1. Add a few pieces of frozen fruit to the glass.  2. Fill half of the glass with Welch’s white grape peach juice. 3. Fill the rest of the glass with sparkling white grape juice.
Fruit flavored suckers make the perfect stirrers for these Super Sour White Grape Spritzer! If the Hawaiian Punch is too sour on the rim, use sugar instead.
