Christmas Snowflake From Clothes Hangers

39b9b231ed17b154b6e2da2b6e003cc8This is such a cool decoration for Christmas. It is cheap so you can make a lot of them to really make an impact for the front of your home. There are different variations of it available but I like this one the best. Another aspect that I like about it, other then it being cheap and easy, is that it is already weatherproof.

You can find the video tutorial I used here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rru9qejrGMw

Some variations I found are:

Wrap with small sized lights.

Wrap with dollar store tinsel garland.

Spray paint silver, gold or some other color of your choice.

Spray polyurethane on it and while it is still wet sprinkle glitter on it. Make sure to do this over an old sheet tarp. It would get messy. Think iridescent or a color to coordinate with your home color or theme inspiration.

You could really go to town with these and have several hanging from the front of your home or from large trees. You could use one for each window in your home. Your total minimal investment would be $2.00 for 12 hangers fro your local discount department store and a package of small zip ties which I got twenty for $1.75. I reinforced the ones I made with extra zip ties here and there so I used plenty of them. Instead of the floral piece the guy in the video used I went to Michaels and got medium sized thin wood cutouts. I spray painted them on both sides and heavily coated them with polyurethane to protect them from the elements. I hot glued these on. You can use your imagination for the center including leaving them with nothing in the middle. I like them that way as well.

If you do this let me see them and I would be happy to share on this post. When submitting let me know what name to credit your design with.

Thanksgiving Fruit Platter Shaped Like Turkey

How neat is this? A series of fruits pierced with shish kabob wooden sticks. The body is a pear. Googly eyes were used (just make sure to remove them before someone eats them. The beak and feet are trimmed from fruit roll ups. You could make the eyes out of rice paper with drawn on pupils from a sharpie marker if you have concerns for guests not eating the googly eyes. The fruit used to make the tail can be anything you just have to make sure you are consistent with putting them on so that they all keep the rainbow effect. After you cut the fruit toss in a bowl with water and a tablespoon of lemon juice. Blot to dry. This would be great for a thanksgiving dinner.

Use A Food Glove For A Halloween Snack Bag

This is a great little project that you can do with your kids for a Halloween party. Its simple and really impactful for a layout for a party. Simply pop popcorn. At each tip of each finger put  a candy corn. Add popcorn to fill the glove. Close with a piece of curling ribbon made into a bow. Add a spider ring for a bit of show.

Make A Candle Out Of An Orange & Olive Oil

This is pretty cool. Would be neat for a table, in a small hurricane lampshade or a party. The smell of using an orange and good quality olive oil will leave a warm home smell in the air.

Halloween Vegetable Tray – We All Float Down Here – Pennywise – Stephen King’s It

One of my all time favorite Stephen King films and I love Pennywise. This is a great layout done with different vegetables to make a portrait of him of sorts. Used is: squash, baby carrots, cauliflower, cucumber, bell peppers, olives, onion and radish. Perfect for a Halloween party. The dip tray is ranch with olives cut into slivers to spell out float. This will be the talk of your guests and is pretty simple to do.
