To make these use a cookie cutter and trace the design onto green (or whatever color) construction paper. Here is a pattern you can use – just print out and trace however many you need. (right click to save and enlarge to desired shape)

680cdd0887ca22e312c228379b9efb66Cut the hole for the nose on one and draw the eyes and mouth and back it completely with another cutout with no nose after putting in the lollipop or tootsie roll. Glue around the edges with hot glue or white school (non-toxic) glue.

After having my knee go through a dashboard when someone ran a red light and smashed into my drivers side door I was pretty banged up: herniated disk, whiplash and my right knee was in excruciating pain. Nothing could touch it. It was swollen for weeks with a bruise covering the whole front of it. A mess.

I ended up having arthroscopy to remove the blood that would not leave my knee and to have my knee cap put back in place. After surgery and then recovery I faced life knowing that beyond have serious permanent injuries to neck and back – my right knee was going to forever hurt. Cold hurts it! Walking and standing too long hurts it! It pops and brings up pain – and playing on the ground with my three year old is a commitment because getting up hurts a lot.

Of course I had a knee brace to help but it was just one of those blue cheapies that after a couple months would stretch out and really not be beneficial anymore. I have bought several padded braces over the years – but as soon as I would get them and feel their quality I knew, like others, it wouldn’t last.

ON RIGHT KNEE

So when I had the opportunity to review another padded knee brace I wasn’t sure but was willing to give it a shot. I delayed giving the review because I was going to use it (and abuse it) to see what exactly it was made of. It felt a bit stronger in sketchiness as it didn’t give when pulling out from each side.

I have run, exercised, stood for a long duration all while wearing this padded knee brace. It provides a nice squeeze to my knee which feel really good when you have this type of injury. It still feels very strong when I pull out from both sides.

Of course, only time will tell as to how long it will last. It feels much more durable then the cheap blue ones I usually throw away after a month and a half to two months so I have positive feelings about it.

I would recommend it for those who have had knee injuries, surgeries (especially knee replacements when allowed by your doctor). The only flaw I found is that the outside fabric (like all padded knee pads I have used) allows pet hair to stick to it. All in all not really a problem but with the tight squeeze it provides unlike the others I can live with it.

My Share: Starry Laser Lights Halloween & Christmas

This is a really a great laser light decorating show system – so much better then the as-seen-on-tv versions.  I have posted a video that shows all of the functions of this system. I used it inside against our silver Christmas tree and it looks awesome.

One of the best features is it’s ability to change the light presentation. You can go solid colors of blue, green or red. You can do patterns that blink or are steady or you can make it move at different speeds.

One of the best features I like is the quality. It is made of all metal – the actual light itself and the bracket that holds the light that you attach to wherever you want to place the light. My only concern with this unit is that the bracket that holds the light only had one hole to place a screw into. Around Salt lake City (where I live) it get windy and the snow can come down pretty hard. I drilled one additional hole on each side to give me three holes to anchor it well.

The lights themselves are very bright and can be seen even in the dusk of early evening. Some of these units get complaints that they are not bright enough except for when it is pitch black – not this unit. It covers such a wide space that one unit could do most whole home fronts unless you have many angles and nooks.

I will be able to use this on many different occasions and not be limited to just Christmas. The red or red and blue or the blue and green or the blue by itself will work for Halloween. Red and blue will work for parties for Fourth of July or Memorial Day. The all green, blue and red could be used for birthday parties.

If you are worried, like I was before purchase, that these laser light shows that blink might cause seizures then this unit is right for you. Its perfect because you can completely remove the movement or blinking or seriously bring motion and blinking to an almost standstill.

I would highly recommend this unit to anyone interested in buying a quality laser light show system for not just one holiday but pretty much all of them.

Dryer Duct Silver Christmas Tree

5345354What a unique design for a Christmas Tree made from dryer duct work. It is just rolled in circles on top of one another attached with hot glue and twist ties poked through ribs of the two layers hooking them together. Then wrap with lights. You could then attach ornaments if you desire but this idea is very cool all on its own. Would be a great decoration in a service shop that works on dryers and other appliances.
