Easter Egg Wreath

59780_453138318092647_1127927847_nThis would make an awesome decoration that you can even make with your child. With all of the varieties of these plastic Easter eggs available this could go into any direction: Mix and match, use all glitter, use a theme, all animal designs. Start with a Styrofoam wreath of your choosing. Take a ribbon or thin wire and wrap it around the top to make a loop to use as a hanger.Wrap the wreath in a cheap fabric (use scrap or buy a festive Easter color or print) and hot glue and pin this together. Use hot glue to attach eggs – starting with the largest and going smaller to fill in the gaps. You could add a little Easter basket grass as you go if you wish. Add a festive bow to complete.

Shave Cream Easter Egg Decorating

181014_457707377635741_1339838334_nMix food dye with 1 cup of shaving cream to make swirls etc. Roll egg into shaving cream and let sit for about an hour. Wash under room temperature water. Egg with have a varying degree of color shading with swirls. I would not recommend eating these eggs because of the chemicals from the shaving cream.

Glamourous Easter Egg Decorating

540096_479837485403494_838997851_nI am always amazed at how creative someone can decorate Easter eggs! These beauties were all dyes to start with of the artists favorite color ‘purple’. This gave a base color to work with. The artist used the same dye in different amounts of dye to bring out different shades of the color. Some went on even further to be painted. You can see glitter and sequins being used here. But what else could be used to decorate eggs. This would be a perfect time to bring out the little craft left overs and see just how creative you can be. If you are using solvents on these it would be best not to eat them if you are making on hard boiled eggs for health safety.

541252_459905984082547_267980172_nThis is such a great little edible goodie that you can make for Easter: parties, kids school functions, bake sale etc.

Make Rice Krispie Treat Recipe

1/4 cup butter

4 cups miniature marshmallows

5 cups crisp rice cereal

  1. Melt margarine in large sauce pan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted and well-blended. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
  2. Add cereal. Stir until well coated.

Clean, dry and spray the inside of plastic eggs. Push mixture into top and bottom and then squeeze together by adding an small amount of mixture to one side and then squeeze the two halves together. Open up and as you do so move each side in a different direction to “unscrew” your new creation.

Melt candy melt or chocolate – add food dye to desired color – dip eggs into the mixture and then sprinkle with candy confetti, sprinkles, etc.
