Halloween Get-Yourself-Busy Calendar

For all you crafters out there here is your official Halloween calendar…. you better get busy. Looks like a lot of work!

Halloween Upscycle Wine Bottle Decorations

These great little guys will be the perfect up-cycle project that will look perfect on a table on on a mantle. Remove labels with goo be gone and razor. Then spray paint the bottle orange for the pumpkins and leave clear for the ghosts or use a white paint to spray the bottle. Last just cut spooky faces out of vinyl and apply. If you are going to trash it after its use you are done. If you want to keep them year after year and make a collection then polyurethane them. These would also look great out in a garden and what other holiday could you use this idea and come up with something great?

Carved Halloween Pumpkins

These remind me of when I was living in Huntington, WV. There was a man that lived in the area who literally carved hundreds of pumpkins with the help of volunteers) and made a huge attraction around Halloween time. It was always a big hit and definitely something you had to go see. The pumpkins in the picture are not from him but are very detailed carvings of pumpkins are just fascinating to look at.

Wire Spool End Table

What a great idea for a dorm or a country rustic home interior style. These are usually thrown away from companies that use cable (cable companies, electricians) and make a great strong piece of furniture. First it does need to be cleaned very well with soap and hot water and a hard bristle scrub brush to remove grime and dust. Dry. Sand away any stamped names or images as those will be hard to cover. Cover with one coat of primer to seal off the wood and allow paint to cover and not soak into the raw wood. Paint your favorite color (or colors). Add dowels that are minimum of 1/2 inch thick (but thicker can give a more bold appearance). Paint out the dowels and spool one last time to ensure good coverage. Coat with polyurethane to seal. On the bottom add rolling casters or other re-purposed “feet”. If you want a little cleaner look you could add a top just a little larger in diameter then the spool top.
