Lamp & Bowl Art For Your Garden

I found this great idea on the internet and wanted to share. These are mushrooms made from bowls and candlesticks and the larger ones are made from lamps. They are so unique and would be a great spruce up for recycled art in your garden. The best thing is you can source the materials from your old items or cheaply at any thrift or yard sale.

There are a variety of methods to make these and vary on the items you are using. The easiest is to drill a pilot hole through the bowl and into the candlestick or lamp post. Screw a large heavy duty screw through bowl and into lamp post or candlestick. You need to use a drill bit designed for the metal you are using. If you have a smooth surface between the inside of your bowl and the stem then you can use epoxy.

To paint you will need a spray paint like Krylon that is designed to adhere to metal. You can paint them traditional type colors or get really funky with the color choice.

Make them yours. You can also glue little accessories on them like little gnomes or fairies. Moss and pebbles glued on the the base where it sits in your garden will make them loo like they have been there for a long time.

edit-19908-1453418853-4Make a blackboard up that you can take a picture of with your child for each and every new tooth they loose. Include which tooth number the child just lost, date and age. This makes a perfect little keepsake to place in their scrapbook that tells a little story all on its own.

Of course these are not real wood pencils but thick round doweling made to look like them. An artist would be proud to have these as their front gate!

Letter From The Tooth Fairy

tooth fairyMake a very tiny letter from the tooth fairy and give your child an extra surprise when they loose their tooth. Cut a small square a write a letter from the tooth fairy. Fold in thirds like you usually do for a letter. Base the size of that to make your envelope. Trace a line around your envelope onto a piece of paper. Make a triangle going away from each side of your envelope. Cut and fold on lines. Seal with a drop of wax. What a little keepsake for your child to have when they grow up – after the child receives the letter attach the letter/envelope to a small baggie with the tooth.

Magical Getaway

This looks like a little home tucked away in a forest of a magical being. The fantasy comes from the rambling vines, stone exterior of the home siding, and some color or the yellow flowers in pots in the window. The hard lines of the home and rambling vines are relaxed with the very feminine drapes in the window. I wonder who lives here? I wonder what someone would be doing just on the inside of this perfect little getaway. Reading? Art studio? …. whatever hey do I am sure it mus be relaxing to be inside looking out.
