There may come a time when you’re ready to give your home a new look. Rather than move locations, you can remodel your home to fit your needs. From remodeling your kitchen to adding a new style to your bathroom, there are many ways to give your house a new appearance.
Before you start the initial demo, here are some remodeling tips to keep in mind:
1. Have a Plan
Before you start taking sledgehammers to your walls, have a plan. Home remodeling is a bigger step than simply replacing interior decor. You should have a general idea as to what you want to renovate and then put your remodeling plan into motion.
When you have a plan of how you’re going to remodel your home, you can rest easy knowing the finished product will be the right one.
2. Start Small
You don’t need to complete a full home renovation. The remodel can be small and targeted. Pick out an area of the home that is in dire need of a refresh and remodel that area first. Then, when that’s finished, you can work on the next area of your home you’d like to see renewed and vibrant.
3. Know Your Budget
Remodeling isn’t cheap but you can do so on a budget. If you have a certain amount of money to work with on your home remodel vision, keep that budget in mind along the way. After all, you don’t want to get halfway through putting down the new floor and find out you can afford to pay for the rest of the tile.
With a budget in mind, you know your home remodel vision can be successful and complete.
4. Hire a Professional
You may think you’re capable of redoing your kitchen cabinets, but if you’ve never done this type of job before, it may be best to leave this construction up to the professionals. It is well worth the money to ensure the finished product is one with top-notch results.
If it’s something as simple as replacing HVAC filters in your home, and you’re well-versed in this area enough to know the difference between FPR vs. Merv, you can do this job. However, a home remodel is much more involved and usually requires the expertise of a construction professional.
5. Don’t Be Afraid to Try a New Style
It may be scary to embark on a home remodel project, especially if you’re going in a totally different direction with style. But, don’t be afraid of a new style!
You don’t want to go through the entire, tedious home remodel process and have the finished product look just a little bit different than the original version. Check out home remodeling and construction sites online to get ideas as to what your finished remodel should look like. You may have an idea as to the look you’re trying to achieve and these websites will help you put your visions into motion.
Pursue a Home Remodel Project Today
If you want your house to look and feel different, and don’t want to move, home remodeling is an excellent way to give your place a new style. Start researching your options today and see what parts of your home could use a little refresh.

The most common problem that owners of small-sized apartments are facing is the very modest size of the bathroom. During the repair, you have to solve a difficult problem: how to properly plan a room so that it is both functional and not cluttered?
In fact, everything is much simpler – you just need to use your imagination and a little bit of work. Here are some useful and interesting ideas for a small bathroom.
Layout Features
If you start repairs “from scratch”, and the size of your bathroom is very small — you can think about increasing it due to the redevelopment of walls and partitions. The important thing is to consult an appropriate specialist for this. As a result, it will be possible to combine a bathroom with a toilet, or with a corridor. However, this is a very difficult job, it is better to save this option as a last resort.
A more affordable option may be the thoughtful layout and design of a small bathroom. Due to the visual effects and the arrangement of plumbing, you can greatly expand the visible boundaries of the room and not change its actual size.
First, you need to pay attention to the location of the plumbing — perhaps the toilet is too far from the wall or it can be moved closer to the drain. A door can also take a lot of space, especially if it opens inward. It is necessary to change the door so that it opens outward or even put the sliding doors that take no space at all.
Preparation for reparations in the bathroom
Walls and floors are needed to be cleaned to the ground. It is necessary to remove all the old coating: tiles, paint, old glue, etc. If the floor tile is very difficult to remove, then the solution can be to lay a new one on top of it. The cleaned surfaces need to be coated with a primer.
Preparation also includes plumbing and electrical work. For this type of work, you should also seek the help of a specialist.
When these works are completed, you can begin reparation and install plumbing.
Materials used for walls and floors
The most common and ideal option for covering walls and floors in the bathroom are ceramic tiles. Its diversity is so great that it can satisfy any, even the most sophisticated, needs. Just remember the main thing — tiles for a small bathroom should be small. In this case, a mosaic will be an ideal option.
The choice of tiles is one of the most important tasks. After all, it sets the main tone for the bathroom, but you should definitely check other options for your bathroom floor and walls, such as:
You can paint the walls with moisture-resistant paints;
Plastic panels or plastic tiles can also be a great solution.
You can use glass tiles, which are becoming more and more common and popular.
For the floor we recommend tiles. But, not the ordinary ones, with a smooth glossy surface, but rough. This kind of tile is made of porcelain. It is much stronger and will prevent falling and injuries on the wet floor.
Also, don’t forget about the ceiling – it should have moisture protection and fit into the interior.
Chose of colours
When designing a small bathroom, the choice of the right colour is very important. After all, the main task is to visually increase the small space. In order to do that, choose the tiles in bright colours. But do not get carried away with white and chrome interior details if you don’t want your bathroom to look like the operating room or laboratory.
However, you should keep in mind that designers do not recommend using more than three colours at the same time. You can also use the accessories in the same colour as the interior. Youll get the effect of “merging” when objects seem to be there, but they do not stand out against the general background and do not come to the fore.
It is better not to use large drawings on the walls, floor or ceiling – your bathroom can only visually decrease due to this.
Let there be light
Lighting is very important for a small bathroom. A dim light is absolutely not an option in this case. It needs bright artificial light. How to do it? Firstly, you can install many lights on the ceiling — then the light will be evenly distributed throughout the room. It is also desirable to have a light bulb above the sink.
In order to save energy, you can install energy-saving light bulbs, and enhance lighting with mirrors. But we will talk about this later. If there is a possibility, then make a window in the bathroom -it’s always better to have sunlight in the bathroom during the day! If this option does not fit, then you can make an imitation of a window with the appropriate highlighting — a very original idea.
How to choose furniture
As you may have guessed, the furniture shouldn’t be large, dark and clutter up all the free space. Furniture should create the illusion of transparency, “zero gravity” of the room, and not oppress with its quantity and dimensions.
The colour of the furniture should be light, ideally – merge with the walls or have similar tones. Instead of cabinets, you can use hooks and hangers, or hang a rack over the toilet.
Mirrors
The design of a small bathroom must include mirrors. Together with the right lighting, they can work wonders and significantly increase the room.
Corner mirrors look very original and are able to create a beautiful game of colours and highlights. If you want to install a mirror above the sink, do not forget to add lighting to it.
Decoration for a small bathroom
For a small bathroom, it is better to stick to the principles of minimalism and not to use a large amount of decor. If the design involves the presence of tiles of bright colours or unusual shapes, a small space does not need additional decor. It is better to use bathroom accessories that decorate the interior and are functional at the same time.
Shower curtain. An original curtain for a bath or shower will decorate the entire room. Neutral or similar in design fabric will work well.
Laundry basket. This item can be selected based on the design and style of the bathroom (a wooden basket for the Scandinavian style, metal for the modern, etc.)
Mats, towels. Bright fabrics will add the necessary accents, and brightness but only if your tiles are simple and plain and not too bright.
A set of holders for towels, toilet paper — it is better if the kit is from the same collection.
A set of dispensers for soap, shampoo, shower gel. Multi-coloured bottles and jars will not decorate the bathroom. Therefore, it is worth choosing sets consisting of dispensers and containers of the same design. It is better if they fit in the design of the interior of the bathroom.
Conclusion
If you follow all the instruction above while remodelling your bathroom, we are sure that you will forget that you ever considered it too small. But the most important thing is that you should listen to yourself, your preferences and needs. Don’t be afraid to experiment and include your own ideas. Options and possibilities are countless.
Good luck!

I have always been amazed when going through new development homes after completion with all the finishing details and fully decorated. I see installations of wood, replications of 1800’s trim and doors, light fixtures and all the little extras designers have forethought about adding into their overall design. One of the coolest features I have seen in the last few years are these walls that have a 3-D raised pattern. A feature wall, entryway, half wall or an even a cheaper option under cabinets in the kitchen when tile is just too much.
These walls can be painted to blend, giving a subtle pattern in 3D or they can be made to really pop with a vibrant color that will really give your room an attention grabber. With the ease of installation and the great price I didn’t know that these were not just for the expensive home remodel but the average person could have them in theirs. These walls are fashionably designed from simple, very manageable, square panels. They are installed by measuring and gluing (yes, I said it – you don’t even have to nail).
One box contains 12 panels that measure 19.68″ square. They are made from all natural elements (natural plant fiber) so no need to worry about these being in your home if certain things can cause health concerns for you or a loved one. They are also environmentally friendly so you have little impact on your world.
PURCHASING: These 3d wall pane
ls can be purchased at: www.mywallart.com and custom panels can be purchased at the same location. With so many options please take your time and decide what works best for your intended area and what you like. It may take you awhile like it took me awhile to make the perfect decision but the end result will amaze you.
PREPARATION: You start by cleaning walls and allowing drying time (preferably overnight). The walls can’t be damp or panels can buck. You also need to provide time for the panels to accumulate to the room you are applying them in. You do this simply by moving the panels in their boxes to the room of installation.
*A great video showing a demonstration creating 3-D panel art!*
GETTING STARTED: Simply start in the center of your area to be covered, using a leveler, draw lines for the bottom and one side. Caulk all edges with a thin bead and also any areas of the mold on the back that would touch the wall. Carefully align the bottom and side edge to the lines you have created. Press firmly using both palms pressing along the edges and areas in the middle that touch the wall. This will be the middle to your wall. Everything will be placed on the wall leading out from this panel. Use the spacers at each edge to create exact alignment from one panel to another
When approaching the an edge know these panels can be cut to desired widths. Paint with a sprayer in two even coats to give the perfect look.
*Here is a video showing a great idea for a 3-D panel art piece.*
I love the look these give to any wall in your home. But don’t limit these to your home. The friendly panels can be installed in retail outlets with nooks, on a wall, or area that needs to be ‘set’ apart to grab shoppers attention. These can also be used within an office giving a bold look to a waiting area or help give a little update where employees are working to help change the regular ins and outs of the routine they get stuck in.
*Here is a video of the panels being used to create a headboard!*
These panels are cheap on the budget but they are certainly not cheap in quality. They are very ridged and when installed do not bend or sag like cheaper version of these wall make-over-panels. They can be changed up again by painting a different color and are sure to be a conversation piece with guests.

A thorough home renovating project requires some major planning and even if you know precisely what you wish to accomplish with your remodel, you can expect to run into more than a few obstacles on your way. So, let’s see what are some of the most common mistakes in home remodeling projects and in what ways can you avoid them:
Avoiding Budget Mistakes
Definitely the most common and, at the same time, biggest mistake in remodeling projects is not setting a realistic budget beforehand. A budget can undermine your project in a variety of ways, spending more than you can afford being the most common. This leaves many people in debts and with unfinished remodels. On the other hand, there’s also the mistake of trying to save money by saving on materials and tools. This can lead to some shoddy work, which can later on end up costing you much more than you originally hoped. The best way to avoid all these things from occurring is to make a detailed budget plan, list all the work you need to do and add another 20% on your original sum. This budget is going to cover all your expenses, but also give you a bit of space to cover some minor accidents (just in case.)
Avoiding Contractor Mistakes
Many people tend to fall into the trap of hiring the first contractor they find, or even worse – the first that offers them the lowest bid. While paying the lowest fare for a contractor surely is tempting, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best deal you can make. It’s important to find an experienced and qualified contractor, so you can be sure that you’re getting your money’s worth (even if that means paying a bit extra). The other common mistake is not hiring a contractor at all and relying on your own two hands to do all the work. It would be best to realistically evaluate what type of work you’re able to do on your own and where you should seek help from an expert.
Avoiding Safety Mistakes
While you might think that you can save both money and time by avoiding to meet some basic safety standards, this can greatly sabotage the remodeling. This is exactly why it’s crucial to take all the safety precautions into consideration, including not only safety equipment and gear but also conducting a detailed home inspection before officially starting your remodeling project. A hired professional inspecting your home can uncover a lot of irregularities and failures which need to be taken care of during the renovation. The best solution is to identify all the potential issues beforehand so you’d get an opportunity to add these errors to your to-do list. Hiring an inspector to examine your house after you’ve finished with the remodel is also smart, but it’s much better to fix everything before the end of the project.
Avoiding Planning Mistakes
Planning is a crucial aspect of every home remodel and it’s critical to plan everything to the smallest detail if you want your remodeling to go smoothly. This includes not only designing a timeline of the repairs, but also considering their factors such as the complete layout of the house. Professionals who design project homes in Sydney advise to carefully plan the location of your electrical and plumbing systems so you’d be able to construct a functional residence suitable for future development.
Big projects such as these are known to be quite overwhelming at certain points, but very rewarding. So, before you dive into this venture, it’s best to be prepared for what awaits you in the following period. It’s best to inquire about all possible outcomes and get a grasp of some of the most common obstacles and mistakes that you should strive to avoid.
