Halloween Ghost-Of-A-Pillow

Materials:

  • Pencil
  • Felt
  • DMC® Needle
  • Floss
  • Poly-fil® Polyester Fiberfill
  • Thread
  • Scissors
  • Celebrate It™ Tulle
  • Big Bag Buttons
  • Sewing Basket 100 Color Ball Pins
  • Quilting Basket Chalk Marking Pencils
  • Sewing Machine (Adult Use Only)

Instructions:

  1. Lay the white felt flat on your work surface and fold in half.
  2. Draw and cut out ghost pattern. Pin the pattern to both layers of the felt and cut around the edges. Remove pins and discard the pattern.
  3. Place the top piece of felt in front of you and put the back aside.
  4. Gather the buttons needed for the face and place beside you. Thread 6 strands of floss onto a needle and knot one end. For each eye, you can sew the 2 buttons on at the same time as shown.
  5. Sew the middle button of the mouth on first and build out from there.
  6. Use a chalk pencil to draw the hair swirl before backstitching.
  7. Cut the patches from neon lime and lavender felt sheets. Make them as big or little as you want. Pin them onto the ghost front where desired. You may choose to overlap them as in the photo. Straight stitch the patches into place. Sew buttons on if you wish.
  8. When you are done embellishing the ghost, flip the front over and place on top of the back piece. Be sure to align edges and pin them together. Note: The ghost should be pinned together inside-out.
  9. Have an adult sew the ghost together using the sewing machine, being sure to leave at least a 4-inch wide opening for stuffing.
  10. Turn the ghost right-side-out and fill with Poly-Fil®. Stitch closed with floss or thread.
